Superior phrenic arteries

The superior phrenic arteries (singular in Latin: arteria phrenica superior) are small blood vessels that arise from the lower part of the thoracic aorta. These branches of the aorta are distributed to the posterior part of the upper surface of the respiratory diaphragm. They anastomose with the musculophrenic and pericardiophrenic arteries. The superior phrenic arteries mainly supply the diaphragm, but also participate in supplying the adrenal glands.
